CWO’s beautiful campus located at 1937 8th Avenue first opened to serve a single class of twelve students in 2016, along with the class of twelve students served by the original Brooklyn Avenue campus.
Now home to four classrooms of ten to twelve students each, the 8th Avenue campus replaced our Brooklyn Avenue location in January of 2019.

The 8th Avenue campus is a registered historic landmark here in Oakland: #101 known as “The Tower House”. Built in 1898, this Queen Anne Victorian has been lovingly restored to meet the highest modern building, fire, safety and seismic standards. The structure and surrounding grounds are cared for by Jessica and her family and serve as a perpetual source of inspiration for the children and their teachers.

We utilize both of our front and rear garden spaces as outdoor classrooms for building, painting, creating and exploring in addition to big body gross motor movement games! The front garden has a treetop vantage point with numerous leaf-shaped openings for greeting neighbors and observing what’s happening down on the street.
